What we collect
- Account information: your email address and your password in hashed form (we can't read it).
- The text you write in Montagist: channel brief, topics, fact ledger, capture plan, script, storyboard, chat, and the words and decisions you leave at each gate.
- Your AI provider keys: each encrypted separately; only the last four characters are shown and the full key is never sent back.
- Text about your footage: each clip's source address, length and similar details — not the footage itself.
- Usage records: devices you signed in on, and the run records and logs for each step. Keys, cookies, tokens, email addresses and computer user names are masked when logs are written.
- Website analytics: aggregated statistics only, without third-party cookies; visitors are told apart by a hash computed from the request, discarded after 24 hours.
What never leaves your Mac
Captured footage, sample cuts, voice-overs and final videos are stored only on your Mac and are never uploaded to our servers. Platform login cookies stay in the app's separate login profiles and private files on your Mac and are never uploaded either. Device and platform login details are protected by your local user permissions without using the system keychain. Anyone able to read these files as your computer account can also read their login details.
The only exception is our own sample videos, which are public examples published on the website.
What goes to third-party providers
You choose and connect your own model, web search and voice providers. When a step calls one of them, the content that step needs is sent directly to the provider you chose: models and search are called from our servers, voice from your Mac. They handle that content under their own privacy policies, so please read them before connecting.
We do not sell your information and we do not train any model on your content.
Diagnostic bundles
A diagnostic bundle is uploaded only after you click send to developer or ask the assistant and agree. You see the list of files first; uploaded bundles are deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can delete them at any time.
Where it is stored and for how long
Cloud data is stored on servers in Singapore. The providers that host and process it for us: Vercel Inc. (website and cloud hosting, Singapore); Neon (database, Singapore); Resend (email sending, Tokyo, Japan).
We keep your cloud data while your account exists and delete it when you delete your account. Data on your Mac is yours to manage — delete the app's data folder to remove it.
Cross-border transfer (Personal Information Protection Law)
If you use Montagist in mainland China, your email address, the text you write in Montagist, your encrypted keys and your usage records are transferred to and stored on servers outside China, in Singapore. Under China's Personal Information Protection Law we inform you that:
- Overseas recipient: Hidawn LLC, contact hello@haoliucha.com; the data is hosted and processed on our behalf by Vercel Inc. (website and cloud hosting, Singapore); Neon (database, Singapore); Resend (email sending, Tokyo, Japan).
- Purpose: to provide your account, the cloud AI steps, the workspace and diagnostics.
- Method: encrypted in transit; keys are encrypted individually at rest.
- Types of personal information: email address, the text you write in Montagist, encrypted keys, usage records and logs.
- You can exercise your rights to access, copy, correct and delete your information by writing to hello@haoliucha.com.
When you sign up we ask for your separate consent to this cross-border transfer. Without it you can't use the cloud features (browsing this website is unaffected).
Your rights
- Access and copy: write to us and we'll send you a copy of your cloud data.
- Correction: edit it directly in the workspace.
- Deletion: delete your account under Settings › Account and your cloud data goes with it.
- Withdrawing consent: deleting your account withdraws it; this does not affect processing that already took place.
- Complaints: if you disagree with how we handle your data, write to hello@haoliucha.com.
Children
Montagist is not intended for children under 14; please do not sign up if you are under 14.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the effective date on this page; we email you in advance about significant changes that affect your rights.
