How to get your Anthropic (Claude) API key

In Montagist, your Anthropic (Claude) key is used for the AI steps — topic, fact ledger, capture plan, script and storyboard (you can pick a model per step in settings).

Where to get it

Open the Anthropic (Claude) key pageplatform.claude.com/settings/keys

Before you start

  • The console now lives at platform.claude.com. You need to buy credits before calling the API.

Create the key

  1. Sign in to the Claude Console and open Settings › API keys.
  2. Click Create key, choose an expiry and name it Montagist.
  3. Copy the key, which starts with sk-ant-, and paste it into Montagist — it is shown in full only once.

Connect it to Montagist

  1. In Montagist, open Settings › Connections › Models and find the Anthropic (Claude) card.
  2. Paste the key; Montagist recognizes the provider from how the key starts.
  3. Click Test connection: it runs in the cloud and shows the result and timing, with a plain explanation if it fails.
