How to get your Doubao (BytePlus ModelArk) API key

In Montagist, your Doubao (BytePlus ModelArk) key is used for the AI steps — topic, fact ledger, capture plan, script and storyboard (you can pick a model per step in settings).

Where to get it

Open the Doubao (BytePlus ModelArk) key pageai.byteplus.com/ark/region:ap-southeast-1/apiKey

Before you start

  • First enable the Doubao models you want under Model activation in Volcengine Ark; calls to models you haven't enabled fail.
  • Keys belong to a project; switch projects at the bottom left if needed.

Create the key

  1. Open the Volcengine Ark console (BytePlus ModelArk outside mainland China) and go to API Key Management.
  2. Click Create API Key, enter a name and create it.
  3. Copy the key and paste it into Montagist.

Connect it to Montagist

  1. In Montagist, open Settings › Connections › Models and find the Doubao (BytePlus ModelArk) card.
  2. Paste the key.
  3. Choose the mainland China or international endpoint — whichever matches the site where you created the key.
  4. Click Test connection: it runs in the cloud and shows the result and timing, with a plain explanation if it fails.

Notes

  • Keys created after 17 September 2026 use a new format; older keys keep working.
  • International users use BytePlus ModelArk, where keys are tied to a region.
